Nicolene Vlok

Nicolene Vlok (Prinsloo) qualified in 2003 with a B.Communication Pathology degree from the University of Pretoria. She started her community service in 2004 at 3 Military Hospital in Bloemfontein. Here she focused specifically on the detection of Noise Induced Hearing Loss, due to military personnel being exposed to excessive noise (shooting, bombing etc.)

In 2005 she joined the HEARCARE group of Audiologists in Krugersdorp. She became more tuned-in to hearing problems that affect the general public, like Tinnitus (ringing in the ears), crucial Balance Problems affecting everyday life and Noise-Induced Hearing Loss.

Linden Hearing Centre (currently part of Therapyrooms) was founded by Nicolene in 2006, where essential Audiology services are currently provided to adults and children in the Linden community and surrounding areas.

In 2008 Nicolene started Bergbron Hearing Centre and expanded Linden Hearing Centre by employing Christelle Joubert to keep up with the demands of a busy practice. Need necessitated further expansion and thus Milpark Balance and Hearing Clinic was launched, where they work closely with Dr. Nadir Kana, an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.

At Milpark, Hearing and Balance disorders are diagnosed and treated in a clinical setting.

Nicolene has done additional courses on:

  • Vestibular and Balance Testing
  • Aural Rehabilitation
  • Hearing Aid Technology
  • Ethics in Audiology

and provides training and educational talks to educate the public about hearing and the field of Audiology.
